Valentina Fel got a great review from music blog Super45 regarding her inclusion in the Music Alliance Pact compliation for June. They chose the thumping “Circo Podrido” to include in the compilation for this month. Here’s what they had to say about it:
“Full of aggressive beats, explosive sampling and social protest lyrics, Valentina Fel is the most logical evolution of a riot girl – punk almost in the realm of grime, do-it-yourself attitude with dancehall as a commodity and flamenco-injected defiance. Her long-awaited upcoming debut – to be release in the next few months – promises to be a massive earthquake in the dancefloor that nobody can anticipate.”
Club Fonograma only had great things to say about Valentina

Santigold mixtape controversy continues

Like Santigold, here at LKM we are big supporters of mixtape culture. There is no greater compliment than having a flash DJ throw your art into the paint mixer and splattering it across a fresh canvas. Terry Urban from the BK found himself on the hook this week. If you’ve missed this mess check out the Pitchfork article here.
SANTIGOLD MAKES A STATEMENT: “Some kid just hit me up about this on MySpace. It was the first I ever heard about it. I’ve never heard anything about this DJ or this remix, and certainly did not send a cease and desist letter. I’m a supporter of mixtape culture and intend to get to the bottom of it.”
